Dental Arts of Rockland Root Canal Treatment

Saving Your Teeth!

Root canal! The very thought of having one strikes fear in many patients. But, really, there is no need for terror– especially if you are having a root canal from Dental Arts of Rockland. In fact, a root canal can be one of the best things that ever happened to clear up and heal your toothache, and save your tooth.

What is a Root Canal?

A root canal is simply the removal of infected pulp from the interior of your tooth. Once the infection is completely removed, we seal the tooth and place a porcelain crown to protect and strengthen the treated tooth. Without root canals, tooth infections can spread into the face, neck and jaw and become so severe that your tooth must be removed.

How will I Know if I Need a Root Canal?

Usually the infection in your tooth is caused by decay either in a natural tooth or in a tooth with a metal filling that has failed and allowed bacteria to enter the tooth. On occasion, this doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort at first, but if you do notice any of the following symptoms, call us right away:

  • Sharp pain or persistent toothache, especially when chewing when chewing
  • Darkening or discoloration of the tooth or gum
  • A pimple, swelling or tenderness of the gums
  • Ongoing sensitivity to temperature changes

We will soothe and pamper you through your treatment with sedation dentistry, calming amenities such as cozy blankets and pillows and even paraffin hand dips to make you feel especially taken care of.
